Constant Theory is one of the Theories on the cause of Differentiation. It holds that Different individuals have always existed as a part of the human race, they have only recently gotten worldwide exposure and attention. Supporters claim that historical figures as diverse as Genghis Khan and Jesus were in fact Differents, which explains the great feats they were able to accomplish. Many supporters acknowledge an uptick in the appearance of Different individuals during the second half of the 20th century. They claim that this is due to the increase in the availability of food. Many Differents have extreme caloric requirements in order to survive. Before the massive increase in food availability, most Different individuals simply starved to death.

Critics of this theory point to the lack of conclusive evidence of Different individuals prior to the 1960's. They argue that if Differents truly existed, there would be more evidence than myths and fairy-tales; there would be altered skeletons and photographs taken prior to 1960. Critics also doubt the idea that an uptick in calories available to the human population explains the increase in Different individuals. They point to the fact that similar rates of Differentiation have been observed worldwide, in nations that did not benefit from an increase in food production at the turn of the 20th century.
