Ultracorps

The Unified Logistics Technology and Research Applications Corporation usually referred to as Ultracorps , was officially incorporated in the state of California in October of 1978. The controlling interest was split equally between Joseph Rames , Allan Fischman, and Margaret Petrov. The corporation was formed in order to develop commercial uses for Allan Fischman, and Margaret Petrov Cognitive Enhancements.

The three worked on commercializing a system Allan Fischman had developed when he was part of the community The Inner World. The Merge was a state whereby Telepaths could share their thoughts with a group of both other Telepaths and normal humans. Allan hired several of the Telepaths from the community to work for Ultracorps.

By adding Margaret Petrov, a Big Brain Different, to The Merge, the capabilities of the system were greatly enhanced. The Merge involved the uncontrollable sharing of thoughts with all connected users. Margaret was able to use her increased thinking speed and working memory, to parse through the jumble of thoughts. This was used to implement a long range communications system dubbed think.Net.

In March of 1983, as a result of The Plagues, the majority of the communication systems had been rendered inoperable in the U.S. The bacteria of The Plagues consumed copper, iron, and plastic. Virtually every communications network on earth relied on components made of those items. The United States government hired Ultracorps, to provide a communications through think.Net. Telepaths and Big Brains were hired as quickly as they were found in order to expand the system.

In 1985, when the U.S. population was ordered to evacuate to the Metro Areas by Executive Order 13578, think.Net was expanded to allow limited communication between the D.C. MA and New York MA. This was facilitated by the creation of nodes. Protected housing complexes located in the Non-Assisted Area where Telepaths and Big Brains could be housed, fed, and kept safe to provide a link over the distance between the Metro Areas.

Ultracorps also began expanding its business. They hired many Different individuals who were then subcontracted out to use their abilities to create the Metro Areas. Ultracorps began a private/corporate partnership with Section 26, where individuals who passed evaluation were referred to Ultracorps. Ultracorps was integral in creating housing and infrastructure for the Metro Areas.

Ultracorps merged with many existing U.S. corporations in order to raise the capital necessary to grow the business and support the operations. McDonald's, IBM, GE, Disney, Ford Motors, Amtrak, and Monsanto, among many other corporations, merged with Ultracorps, making it by far the largest corporation in the world.

The Different Acts of 1996 limited the employment of Different individuals to Ultracorps, essentially granting them a monopoly on Different labor. This cemented the private/public partnership between government and Ultracorps. Different individuals who pass Section 26, are presented with two options in order to pay their Cost of Living Obligation, employment with in the General Labor Pool or, assuming there is interest, employment at Ultracorps.

Ultracorps remains the largest corporation in the world and it is continuing to expand. It creates a wide swath of products across virtually every industry. Notable Ultracorps products and services include: think.Net, Manna, WormLights, B-Crete, Maceo Steel, Pho-Plastic, ForteSilk, Oasis Burger, Town Criers, and The Slug.
