Biography
Chester Cabot, usually referred to as simply Cabot, was the terrorist Different responsible for The Plagues. Cabot used his abilities to manufacture a series of specialized bacterium and virus to devastate the planet. His actions are blamed for the death of 75% of the world’s population and 50% of the American population from 1980-1995.
Chester Cabot was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1951. Cabot was raised by a single mother. He showed an affinity for science at an early age, winning statewide awards throughout his childhood. He got his bachelor’s degree in biology from Harvard at the age of 19 and followed that up with a doctorate at the age of 22.
In 1974, Cabot and a few of his fellow classmates from Harvard started Mitochondrial Possibilities, a research lab which focused on developing new technologies to combat bacterial and viral infections. In 1975, Mitochondrial Possibilities developed a cheaper method for creating vaccines, which they sold to Proctor and Gamble for $250 million. It is now believed that the new method was only discovered thanks to Cabot’s ability to create unique bacteria and viruses.
After the infusion of capital, Cabot largely removed himself from the day to day operations of Mitochondrial Possibilities. Co-workers reported that Cabot became socially withdrawn, spending his days in his own private laboratory. Cabot's research also shifted to include a focus on Differents, an area outside the suppposed focus of Mitochondrial Possibilities. Cabot also began to show a religious fervor that he had never displayed before. There were reports of Cabot attending meetings only to scream at his co-workers, calling them all sinners and disappointments to God.
In 1977, due to Cabot’s increasingly volatile behavior, the other partners in Mitochondrial Possibilities decided to buy him out. Cabot received the sum of 75 million dollars for his portion of the business and his claim on future earnings. Cabot used his fortune to build a massive compound in the Colorado Rockies, complete with a personal laboratory. It is there that Cabot is believed to have developed the bacteria and viruses that made up The Plagues.
In 1979, Cabot used his fortune to print tens of thousands of copies of a religious pamphlet entitled Chosen Sons. This so called missive warned of the coming apocalypse and explained its purpose. Cabot believed he spoke directly to God, and that God instructed him to create The Plagues in order to devastate mankind so Differents, or Chosen Sons as he called them, could inherit the earth. Cabot sent copies of his work to nearly every municipal building around the nation. He sent copies to schools, universities, prisons, libraries, city halls, and administrative buildings. The books were widely ignored at the time.
In January of 1980, according to travel records, Cabot traveled to Jerusalem, Israel. It is there that Cabot is believed to have released the bacteria and viruses that caused The Plagues. Cabot remained in the Middle East following the release.
In March of 1982, the U.S. government officially linked Cabot to The Plagues; he was immediately put at the top of every most wanted list on the planet. BlueHawk was deployed to the Middle East as part of an international coalition formed to apprehend Cabot. Cabot had gained a following since the onset of The Plagues, a battle ensued, and as a result both BlueHawk and Cabot went missing and are presumed dead.
After his death, Cabot continues to exert influence through the Cabotist religion. Cabotists believe that Cabot was the son of God. They attempt to follow the guidelines laid out in Chosen Sons. They believe it is only a matter of time until Differents, or Chosen Sons, inherit the earth.
Differentiation
While never formally evaluated, Cabot is believed to have been a Bacteria Producer; although he also possessed the unique ability to create viruses. Unlike most Bacteria Producers, Cabot was able to control the growth of his bacteria. Through an unknown mechanism, Cabot was essentially able to customize the life forms he created. This allowed him to make strains of bacteria that were stronger and more rapidly reproducing than any that life forms that occur naturally. He could also direct what the bacteria would consume, which allowed him to create the array of destructive Plagues that devastated the country’s infrastructure.
Cabot is assumed to have been Metabolic, like most Bacteria Producers. Some experts have argued that he must have been Fission powered as this is a possible explanation for how Cabot was able to create unique life forms.
