Biography

Julia Chekhov was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1964. Her parents had emigrated from Russia and they lived in a neighborhood populated by other Eastern European immigrants. When The Plagues worsened in 1983, the state of New York ordered all New York city residents to evacuate the city due to flooding concerns. Many people in the Chekhov’s neighborhood chose to stay in their homes. Their neighborhood was able to survive and flourish for several months until police moved in on the neighborhood with the goal of forcibly relocating the residents to refugee camps outside the city. While sweeping the neighborhood, the authorities found how the people had been surviving, Julia Chekov. They had been eating an incredibly calorie rich sticky liquid produced by her body. Julia was on the roof of an apartment building, there, she could get the most exposure to the sunlight she needed in order to produce the substance.

The citizens of the neighborhood were moved to refugee camps and Julia was turned over to Section 26. Julia was evaluated for two weeks, after which Government agents, in concert with Ultracorps researchers, devised a plan to maximize Julia’s production of the chemical they called Manna. A facility was constructed near what was Las Vegas, Nevada; it would come to be known as the Manna Fields. Julia was surrounded by reflective surfaces in order to maximize her sun exposure. The Colorado River was rerouted to provide her with water. Manna quickly became a staple in the American diet. The tree-sap like substance was transported to refugee camps as quickly as it could be produced. In 1993, Roberto Gomez began working with Julia. Roberto was capable of simulating sunlight, greatly magnifying Julia’s light exposure, and with it, her Manna production.

As a result of these actions, Julia has grown to a massive size. She is estimated to way upwards of 200 tons and she is over 70 feet long. Her body has grown into a long, relatively flat shape, presumably to maximize the surface area on her body that can receive light. She has a green, plant-like hue, due to the presence of chlorophyll in her body. Despite the physical changes, Julia is relatively unaffected mentally. Her body absorbs sunlight and produces Manna without her conscious control, leaving boredom as Julia’s largest challenge. This has been alleviated since the invention and expansion of think.Net which allows Julia access to entertainment, as well as a way to communicate with her family. Julia is aware of her situation and is happy to be helping as many people as she is. As it stands, Manna, in its various forms, accounts for 70% of the calories consumed by the American populace. Manna is largely credited with keeping America from starving to death, and allowing the country to recover from The Plagues. On March 12th of 2002 Julia was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, as a sign of the appreciation of the American people.

Differentiation

Julia produces a sticky, sugary substance from glands all over her body, the substance is called Manna. Manna is the most calorie-rich substance ever discovered by orders of magnitude. It is made up of a carbohydrate like substance, that somehow provides thousands of calories of energy per gram. A single gallon of Manna contains over 25,000,000 calories. Julia’s body produces the substance through a process similar to photosynthesis in plants but at an incredibly accelerated and efficient rate. Her body grows in response to the amount of light and water she receives. The amount of Manna she produces is increased as a result. When she was discovered, Julia produced about 30 gallons of the substance a day, once she was moved to the Manna Fields, that number went up to 4,000 gallons a day. After the increase in light provided by Roberto Gomez, Julia now produces approximately 10,000 gallons of Manna a day. Julia’s body runs off of the sugars she produces. She does require massive quantities of water and various other nutrients, which Ultracorps provides.
